Nepal , as a developing
country, has various functions to be developed
specially in the field of intellectual
property. Even if Nepal has vivid and
rich cultural, artistic and natural diversity
and treasure of traditional knowledge,
development of modern intellectual property
jurisprudence have been a subject of much
interest and also a subject for scrutiny
for the purpose of both, in order to know
the secret for development in socio-economic
as well as technological development.
Intellectual property has been the vital
subject for inspiring the people to the
side of modern edge of knowledge and technology
base society. But there is a lack of such
an institution to support Nepalese civil
society especially in relation to intellectual
property rights. The Centre for Intellectual
Property Nepal (CIPN) was established
for the sake of filling this gap by following
an initiative of the individual desert
to create and understand the role of intellectual
property to the present human community.
CIPN was founded in response to an increasing
need felt by authors, artisans, performers,
scientists, technologists, business personalities,
companies and lawyers as well as other
civil societies in order to gain a profound
knowledge and create an appropriate endeavour
in the field of intellectual property.
It has been established with the aim of
fulfilling the gap of necessity of such
an institution, which is competent to
function in multiple dimensions of intellectual
property rights.
CIPN organizes a manifold of activities
on an interdisciplinary level for the
sake of concretizing its object. Fundamental
activities of CIPN are research &
study, advocacy & awareness program
including training program in the field
of intellectual property rights and service
to the individual or institution and other
firms as well within the territory and
also the extra territory. As a consequence
of its various activities the CIPN has
acquired an established reputation in
the field.
